On Wednesday, we were entertained by our 5th grade band and 4th grade recorder players. First, our NFS 5th grade band had their debut performance, first playing Jolly Old St. Nicholas and then Jingle Bells. On Wednesday evening, the 5th grade band joined forces with the Little Harbor and Dondero 5th grade bands to perform the two pieces for a packed house in the PHS auditorium. I am impressed with the growth I have seen in the band students over the past few months, and look forward to continuing this growth as we return back together in January!
After the band performed, our 4th grade recorder players got a chance to shine. They started their study of the instrument back in September, and have done a great job learning a lot of difficult songs. Students have put in countless hours of practice time at home, and it really paid off at their performance. We heard several well-known and not-so-well-known holiday tunes including: Deck the Halls, Fum Fum Fum, An Olde English Carol, Swingin' Old St. Nicholas, Jingle Bells, We Wish You A Merry Christmas, Rhapsody On An Ancient Carol (O Come All Ye Faithful), Winter Joy (Ode to Joy), and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
Congratulations to all of our musicians on wonderful performances all around. Happy Holidays!
