Our kindergarteners have done a wonderful job playing an exploring with many of the musical instruments we have in the music room! We are practicing taking turns with the instruments, moving safely in our own personal space throughout the room, and singing A LOT! It is about time to start our songs for the K-2 Holiday Concert! Fa la la la la!
Our first & second graders will be starting our K-2 Holiday Concert music very soon. We have been working on singing strong and moving carefully as well as continue playing many musical instruments. Our 2nd graders are especially looking forward to performing on boomwhackers at our holiday concert. Not sure what boomwhackers are? Join us for the concert to find out! :)
Our third graders are enjoying learning the ukulele. We are practicing taking care of them as well play, sharing our instruments with a partner, singing and playing at the same time, and changing chords.
Our fourth graders have been working extremely hard on learning the recorder. We are practicing making a good tone on our instruments, making sure we cover the holes completely, and starting each note with the word "doo." I am always so impressed with how much time students spend at home practicing their recorders to earn their Recorder Karate Belts. To learn more about our recorder program, click above under "General Music- 4th Grade." We look forward to performing in our December 16th Holiday Recorder Concert starting at 2pm in the NFS gym!
Fifth grade is always an exciting year in the music room. This year is especially exciting because, in addition to refining and expanding on our singing & Orff instrument skills, we have 34 students signed up for Grade 5 Band- the most we have ever had at NFS! We have learned the first few notes on our band instruments, and continue to practicing make a good tone. We will be performing in the All City Holiday Concert on December 16th starting at 7:00pm in the PHS Auditorium.
