We had a WONDERFUL concert season this May. We started with a polished production of Bugz by our 1st and 2nd graders on May 17th. The set, produced by Mr. Joe and our 1st & 2nd graders, was absolutely beautiful. The time and effort that went into brainstorming ideas and executing them with care and pride is something to be proud of. I want to thanks Ms. Ellie Nevins for hand-crafting all of the costumes worn by our students. They looked adorable, and more importantly, were proud of be performing in the show with their special costumes.
On the evening of May 17th, our 5th grade band joined forces with the 5th graders from Little Harbour and Dondero and performed a great concert at Portsmouth High School. The New Franklin band performed again the next day at NFS for our teachers and younger students. They performed March for Band, Anasazi, and Star Wars. It was a great way to celebrate the accomplishments of our instrumentalists.
On May 25th, our 4th graders put on a wonderful recorder concert for their parents and school. They worked extremely hard in preparing for the concert, and I couldn't be more proud of how they played. We ended the concert with our black belt challenge song, "Try Everything" from Zootopia, which was a big hit! Thank you to all of our 4th graders for their ongoing effort in learning the recorder this year. I hope you are considering joining the band in the fall!
On the evening of May 25th, New Franklin held their first STEAM night. I want to thank all of you who joined me in the gym for some Drums Alive fun! A HUGE thank you to the NFS PTO for providing funds to purchase all of the Drums Alive equipment. We have all loved using the drums this year (including the staff during the Talent Show on May 19th!) and look forward to using them for many years to come.
As the year closes out, I wish you all a wonderful summer and thank you very much for another great year! I look forward to seeing you all in the fall, and wish the best to all of our 5th graders as they head off to middle school!
